Railways’ Special Eid Trains win praise from thousands of travelers

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The four Special Trains launched by Pakistan Railways on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr received an overwhelming response, as thousands of passengers traveled to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with their families.

The travelers widely appreciated the initiative, saying that the special Eid trains provided a comfortable, affordable and time-saving travel experience.

Many passengers expressed gratitude to Pakistan Railways for facilitating smooth journeys during the busy holiday season.

The Railway stations across the country witnessed large crowds, with families seen boarding trains in significant numbers.

The passengers commended the railway staff for their helpfulness, particularly in guiding them about train timings, platform details, ticketing, and booking procedures.

Speaking to APP, a passenger, Farzana Kausar, who arrived at Rawalpindi Railway Station from Lahore, said that Pakistan Railways had “won the hearts of passengers” by completing the Eid train operations with noticeable improvements.

Another traveler, Chaudhry Waheed, also lauded the enhanced services, stating that station cleanliness and overall management had significantly improved.

He said that although railway tracks still require attention in some areas, train punctuality has improved compared to previous years.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan Railways operated four special trains during Eid-ul-Fitr to accommodate the surge in passengers traveling to their native towns.

The initiative was undertaken on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and announced by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.

The special trains aimed to enhance passenger convenience, ensure safe travel, and provide timely transportation during the festive period.

The passengers were offered multiple travel options, including economy class, AC business, and AC standard coaches, catering to different budgets and preferences.

To ensure safety, Pakistan Railways Police strengthened security arrangements at stations and onboard trains.

Adequate personnel were deployed at entry and exit points, while strict monitoring of suspicious individuals was carried out.

Furthermore, the Railways Police Commando Force was stationed at sensitive locations and onboard trains, and bomb disposal units remained on high alert to conduct thorough checks of passengers and luggage.

The officials also ensured that empty racks were inspected before train departures to prevent any untoward incidents.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to facilitating citizens during major religious occasions, enabling thousands to celebrate Eid with their loved ones in a safe and convenient manner.
