PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday released an initial report on human and property losses caused by recent rains across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25.
According to PDMA, at least 18 people lost their lives and 72 others sustained injuries due to roof and wall collapses in various districts of the province.
The deceased include 14 children, one man and three women, while the injured comprise 32 men, seven women and 33 children, the report stated.
The authority said that a total of 60 houses were damaged in rain-related incidents, including 51 partially damaged and nine completely destroyed structures.
The incidents were reported from multiple districts, including Bannu, Abbottabad, Kohat, Peshawar, Nowshera, Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, Kurram, Hangu, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Upper Dir, Battagram, North Waziristan and Tank.
PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant departments are in close coordination and continuing relief operations in the affected areas.
The authority has directed district administrations to ensure the prompt provision of relief goods to affected families.
Special instructions have been issued to the administration of Bannu, the worst-affected district, to expedite financial assistance to the families of the deceased.
The Director General PDMA also instructed authorities to accelerate relief activities and provide immediate assistance to victims.
Meanwhile, intermittent rains continue in different parts of the province, with a fresh spell expected from April 1 to April 4, PDMA said.
PDMA advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist spots, and strictly follow official alerts and advisories.
PDMA’s Emergency Operation Centre remains fully functional. Citizens can report any untoward incident or seek weather updates and assistance through the toll-free helpline 1700, a PDMA spokesperson said.
