Rain, thunderstorm predicted in KP from June 2 to 5

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms across most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from June 2 to June 5 and issued an alert to all district administrations to take precautionary measures.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, rain and hailstorms are expected in Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad during the forecast period.

The spokesperson said that Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Kohat, Kurram, Orakzai, Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank are also likely to receive rain and experience windstorms.

PDMA warned that the expected rainfall may trigger landslides in upper districts and cause flooding in local streams and nullahs. Flash flooding is also feared in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Abbottabad and Kohistan.

The authority further cautioned that urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera and advised residents to exercise caution.

Strong winds and hailstorms may damage vulnerable structures, electricity poles and solar panels.

Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect standing crops from potential weather-related damage.

PDMA has directed district administrations to ensure preparedness through advance measures, availability of resources and readiness of rescue teams.

Authorities have also been instructed to keep major highways open, maintain smooth traffic flow and provide alternate routes where required.

Relevant departments have been asked to clean drainage systems and take immediate steps to prevent urban flooding.

District administrations and concerned agencies have also been directed to keep tourists informed about weather conditions and discourage unnecessary travel during the forecast period.

The public has been advised to stay away from floodwaters, streams, nullahs and other hazardous locations during heavy rainfall.

The spikesman said that PDMA's Emergency Operations Center remains fully operational, and citizens can report any emergency or untoward incident by calling the helpline at 1700.
