RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi Managing Director Ahmed Hassan Ranjha on Monday called on citizens to treat large-scale tree plantation as a national obligation, stressing that accelerating environmental pollution, climate change and rising temperatures demand urgent action.
In his message on International Plant Appreciation Day, Ranjha described plants as an invaluable gift of nature that “not only enhance the landscape but also play a critical role in human health, economic well-being and ecological balance”.
“Plants provide oxygen, reduce air pollution, help maintain a moderate temperature and make the urban environment more pleasant,” he said. “Maximum plantation is the most important need of the hour.”
The managing director urged residents to plant trees in their homes, neighbourhoods, parks and along roadsides, stressing that maintenance was as essential as planting.
“It is not enough to simply put saplings in the ground,” he said. “Continuous care is vital for them to thrive.”
Ranjha reaffirmed that the Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi was continuing multiple tree plantation drives, park improvements and green belt renovations aimed at making the city greener and more lush. All possible steps including modern methods and public participation were being taken to improve Rawalpindi’s environment, he said.
He concluded by expressing the Agency’s determination to intensify its efforts with the cooperation of citizens to deliver a clean, green and healthy environment.
