Rawalpindi Police dismissed social media rumors, markets operating as usual

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) Police have dismissed circulating social media reports claiming that markets across the city would be closed from tonight until further notice, calling the information baseless.

According to a spokesperson, no such directive has been issued by Rawalpindi Police regarding the closure of shops or markets.

City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani clarified that all markets and businesses are operating as usual under the government’s policy and will remain open until 8 pm.

He added that effective security arrangements are being ensured in view of the movement of foreign delegations. Police teams are actively conducting search, sweep, and combing operations in different parts of the city to maintain law and order.

Senior officers are present in the field, supervising the security and traffic management.

The CPO emphasized that Rawalpindi Police remain fully committed to ensure foolproof security across the city at all times.
