Rawalpindi Police on high alert as CPO orders extraordinary security measures for visiting foreign delegations

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) On the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, Rawalpindi Police have placed the city on high security alert and implemented extraordinary arrangements to ensure foolproof security in view of the movement of foreign delegations.

The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the City Police Officer (CPO) at the Police Lines Headquarters, attended by the SSP Operations, SSP Investigation, Chief Traffic Officer, SP CIA, divisional SPs, SDPOs and other senior officers from across the district.

More than 10,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed across the city to perform security duties, while over 600 special pickets have been established and strict monitoring of all entry and exit points is underway. Additional personnel have also been deployed on major arteries to enhance vigilance.

Special teams of Elite Commandos and trained snipers have been assigned security responsibilities, while the Elite Force, Dolphin Force, police station mobiles and other quick response units are conducting patrolling throughout the city.

The CPO said a strict checking had been enforced citywide, with security further strengthened at all entry points. Search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations have also been intensified, with close monitoring and checking of suspicious individuals continuing across Rawalpindi.

Security around sensitive installations, key public and private locations and residential places of importance has been further tightened, while Safe City surveillance, CCTV cameras and modern monitoring systems are being used for round-the-clock observation. Officers are reviewing the situation moment by moment from the control room.

To ensure smooth traffic flow during the security arrangements, a special traffic plan has been devised and alternative routes provided for the convenience of citizens.

Hamdani said Rawalpindi Police were utilizing all available resources to ensure foolproof security and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
