Rawalpindi returns to life as residents return after Eid holidays

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) After three days of less activity during the Eid holidays, Rawalpindi is once again bustling with life as thousands of residents returned to the city after celebrating Eid in their hometowns.

Markets, which were presenting deserted look, began to open. Huge rush was observed at bus stations and railway station, which served as major hubs for mass transit. As people flocked to these stations to return, a heavy flow of passengers was witnessed, with the Rawalpindi railway station packed with travelers eagerly welcomed by their loved ones.

Pakistan Railways recorded unprecedented earnings from passenger trains during the three days of Eid, with revenue reaching Rs. 110.0 million on the first day, Rs. 170.0 on the second, and over Rs. 200.0 million on the third day. Overall during the past week, Pakistan Railways earned more than Rs.1.0 billion from passenger trains, says a spokesman of Pakistan Railways.
