RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi and Chairman of the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, on Tuesday, said around 11,500 tons of waste would be lifted during the Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness operation with the help of 1,066 vehicles.

Addressing a press conference, he said maintaining cleanliness across the city during Eid-ul-Azha remained the top priority of the district administration, and a comprehensive sanitation strategy had been finalised for the purpose.

Dr Waqar said 26 temporary collection points would be established across the city, while four additional dump sites and rendering trenches would be prepared for the safe disposal of animal waste.

He said 306 additional vehicles and 3,070 extra sanitation workers would be deployed during the operation to ensure timely and effective waste collection services for residents.

The DC said lime, phenyl and rose water would be used to minimise foul odors and maintain a hygienic environment.

He said 450,000 waste bags would be distributed among citizens to encourage proper disposal of sacrificial waste.

Urging residents to cooperate with the sanitation staff, he appealed to them to place waste in designated bags and dispose of it at official collection points or containers instead of throwing it into drains, gutters or open spaces.

Dr Cheema said RWMC helplines and social media platforms would remain operational round the clock during all three days of Eid. Complaints in urban areas would be addressed within 30 minutes, while those in rural areas would be resolved within two hours.

He expressed confidence that, with public cooperation, the goal of a clean and environmentally friendly Rawalpindi could be achieved.

Later, Dr Cheema visited an Eid awareness camp and distributed waste bags among residents.

According to the district administration, special cleaning, washing and disinfectant spraying had been completed at mosques, Eidgahs and cattle markets across the district.
