RCCI welcomes fuel price reduction

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has welcomed the government’s decision to reduce petroleum prices, terming it a timely relief measure for the business community and the general public amid prevailing economic challenges.

RCCI President Usman Shaukat in a statement issues on Saturday lauded the announcement by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the reduction in petrol and high-speed diesel prices following a decline in international oil markets.

He said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to passing on the benefits of falling global fuel prices to consumers, adding that the move would help lower transportation and production costs.

“This reduction will provide relief to industries, traders and ultimately the common man,” he said.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in advocating for a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, noting that regional stability has contributed to easing global oil prices.

Usman Shaukat said reduced fuel costs would have a cascading impact on the economy, particularly benefiting the agriculture and logistics sectors, and could help contain inflationary pressures.

He urged the government to continue such pro-business and public-friendly measures to support economic growth, improve competitiveness and facilitate ease of doing business in the country.
