RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) The Enforcement Squad of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Tuesday carried out a major anti-encroachment operation along Saidpur Road, dismantling unauthorised structures to improve traffic flow and pedestrian movement, officials said.

According to an RDA spokesman, the drive from Siddiqui Chowk to Pindora was conducted on the directions of the Commissioner Rawalpindi and the Director General RDA, Engineer Aamer Khattak, with assistance from the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) and the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA).

Enforcement teams removed illegal encroachments, demolished unauthorized sheds and dismantled unlawful signboards to restore the right of way, the spokesman said. Shopkeepers were briefed on preserving public spaces and adhering to approved building plans and regulations.

“The objective is to ensure smoother traffic, safer pedestrian access and a cleaner, more organised urban environment,” he said, warning that repeat violators would face strict legal action. Illegal occupation of public land, the authority added, would not be tolerated.

The RDA said the operation was part of a broader initiative to modernize city infrastructure, reduce congestion and enhance urban aesthetics, urging citizens to report illegal constructions via the RDA hotline for timely action.

The drive was supervised by Additional Director General RDA Muhammad Anwar Baran, with Director Land/Incharge Enforcement Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Building Surveyor Aamir Mahmood Malik and Asim Nawaz Khokhar, along with enforcement staff, present on site.
