Record holder arrested in police encounter, two accomplices escape in Chiniot

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) A proclaimed offender with a lengthy criminal record was arrested in an injured condition during a police encounter in the Chenab Nagar area, while his two accomplices managed to escape, police said on Sunday.

According to police sources, Sub-Inspector Aurangzeb was conducting routine patrol duty along with his team when he signaled three suspects riding a motorcycle to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on the police party and attempted to flee.

Upon receiving information, SHO Chenab Nagar Police Station Inspector Saifullah, accompanied by personnel of the Elite Force and a heavy police contingent, rushed to the scene.

Police retaliated in self-defense, leading to an exchange of fire between the two sides.

During a subsequent search operation, one suspect was found injured, reportedly by bullets fired by his own accomplices during the encounter, and was taken into custody. Police recovered an illegal weapon and the motorcycle used by the suspects. According to police records, the arrested man is wanted in 19 criminal cases involving various offences. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding suspects, with raids being conducted at multiple locations.
