Recruitment of more than 9,000 teachers on cards

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) The Higher education Department has decided to make important changes in the recruitment policy for the recruitment of more than 9,000 temporary teachers (College Teaching Interns) in government colleges.

According to sources, it has been decided to increase the monthly remuneration of temporary teachers from Rs 50,000 to Rs 65,000, while recruitment in graduate and associate colleges will be made for a period of 9 months each.

Earlier, temporary teachers were appointed for 10 months in graduate colleges and 6 months in associate colleges, however, under the new policy, the tenure will be kept the same for both categories.

According to the Higher Education Department, the final approval of the recruitment will be given soon by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

DPI Colleges has sought the need and demand for temporary teachers from all college principals.

Officials say that the budget required for the recruitment of CTIs will be sent to the government based on the demand received from colleges.

The Higher Education Department plans to open an online portal for the recruitment of temporary teachers from September 1.
