ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) The number of registered healthcare professionals in Pakistan increased in 2025, with registered doctors rising to 336,582 and dentists to 42,118, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26 released on Thursday.
The report reveals that as compared to 2024, the number of registered doctors grew by 5.3 percent from 319,572, while registered dentists increased by 7.8 percent from 39,088.
Similarly, the government has taken significant steps to strengthen the health sector as a cornerstone of national development by enhancing human capital and enabling communities to thrive.
The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Policy Framework is a strategic document, developed to strengthen and transform the nursing and midwifery workforce as a cornerstone of the country’s health system.
To address the high burden of Hepatitis C infection, the government approved the Prime Minister’s Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C Infection (2024–2027).
