PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) In pursuance of the directions of Chief Justice, Peshawar High Court, all District and Sessions Judges, along with Judicial Magistrates, conducted special visits to jails across the Province ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, 2026.
The purpose of these visits was to ensure expeditious disposal of cases of petty nature, in accordance with law, says an official statement.
During the course of these visits, 378 cases involving minor offences were disposed of. Consequently, 422 prisoners involved in such cases were extended legal relief and ordered to be released from various jails.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the judiciary to uphold the rule of law, ensure timely dispensation of justice, and extend relief to deserving individuals, particularly on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Chief Justice has appreciated the efforts of all judicial officers for their diligence and dedication in undertaking this exercise, which has also contributed towards alleviating overcrowding in prisons.
