Rescue 1122 conducts fire safety mock exercise at Nishtar-II hospital

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) The Rescue 1122 conducted a comprehensive fire safety mock exercise at Nishtar-II hospital to enhance emergency preparedness and response mechanism.

The Primary objective of the exercise was to strengthen coordination in case of fire emergencies, ensuring rapid response, effective firefighting, safe rescue operations, timely evacuation, and efficient patient shifting procedures.

During the drill, Rescue 1122 firefighting teams demonstrated professional skills in controlling fire in a high-rise building scenario. A simulated victim was safely rescued from an upper floor using the Belay Method, showcasing advanced rescue techniques.

Meanwhile, the medical team provided first aid and ensured the secure transfer of the victim to an ambulance.

The exercise also included a full-scale evacuation drill in which patients were safely shifted from various hospital wards to designated safe locations and ambulances, ensuring readiness for real-life emergency situations.

The mock exercise was conducted under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Dr Hussain Mian, while Emergency Officer Engineer Muhammad Bilal led and coordinated the operational activities.

Personnel from the control room, Rescue and Safety Officers (RSOs), safety teams, station coordinators, and fire, medical, and disaster response units actively participated.

The administration of Nishtar-II hospital extended full cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such joint exercises to further improve fire safety and emergency response systems.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hussain Mian stated that Rescue 1122, was fully equipped with modern training and resources to effectively respond to all types of emergencies. He emphasized that timely evacuation, proper fire safety measures, and efficient rescue operations in high-rise buildings can save precious human lives.

He further highlighted that fire safety audits, mock exercises, and drills were being conducted across the district in public, private, and commercial high-rise buildings, along with awareness campaigns to educate the public on safe evacuation practices.

Dr Hussain Main appealed to the citizens to ensure proper fire safety arrangements in their buildings, keep emergency exits accessible at all times, and immediately contact Rescue 1122 in case of any emergency.
