Rescue 1122 deploys 1,350 rescuers, 55 ambulances for Muharram emergency cover in Lahore

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has deployed 1,350 rescuers and 55 ambulances across Lahore to provide special emergency and medical cover as well as ensure the safety of mourners during Muharram.

According to a Rescue Punjab spokesperson, 300 rescue motorbikes has also been placed on high alert at key locations, Majalis and mourning processions across the provincial capital.

The spokesperson said two specialized high-tech snorkels and 42 fire and rescue vehicles have been deployed to deal with any major emergency situation during Muharram activities.

Rescue posts have been established alongside Majalis to provide immediate first aid to mourners, while additional ambulances have been stationed at the front and rear of major processions to ensure prompt emergency response.

Rescuers are providing medical cover to participants of Majalis and processions at various locations, including Shadman and Islampura, as well as other parts of the city.

Emergency cover is also being provided to devotees attending the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA).

The spokesperson said 34 mourners have so far been provided first aid on the spot during Muharram-related events.

District Emergency Officer Dr Rizwan Ahmed Chaudhry visited the procession emerging from Pandu Street and inspected Rescue 1122 posts and medical cover arrangements. He reviewed the deployment of rescuers and directed officials to remain fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation.

The spokesperson said routine rescue operations are continuing uninterrupted alongside Muharram duties across Lahore. He added that the Rescue 1122 Command and Control Centre Lahore and the Provincial Monitoring Cell are continuously monitoring all emergency and rescue operations.

Citizens have been advised to immediately contact the Rescue 1122 helpline in case of any emergency.
