Rescue-1122 firefighters mark International Firefighters’ Day

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi celebrated International Firefighters’ Day with great zeal and paid glowing tributes to the martyred firefighters who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Under the special instructions of Founder and Secretary Emergency Services Department Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer (Sitara-i-Imtiaz) and supervision of District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi Engineer Sibghatullah, the department organized seminars, awareness walks, and memorial ceremonies at Central Rescue Station, Fire Brigade Station Liaquat Bagh, and all tehsils of the district. Rescuers and volunteers offered Fateha for the martyred firefighters and saluted their sacrifices.

Speaking on the occasion, District Emergency Officer Engineer Sibghatullah said that Rescue 1122 firefighters in Rawalpindi responded to 18,603 fire incidents with professionalism and bravery, saving property worth more than 138 billion rupees from destruction.

“Firefighters are the real heroes of the nation. They put their own lives at risk to protect the lives and property of citizens. They are the pride of our forehead and people feel secure knowing that Rescue 1122 is always ready to serve in any emergency,” he said.

Engineer Sibghatullah also called upon owners of high-rise buildings to strictly follow fire safety regulations issued by the Emergency Services Department to prevent major fire incidents.

The day was dedicated to both honouring the fallen heroes and motivating serving firefighters who continue to serve the public selflessly.
