Rescue 1122 responds to 167 road traffic accidents during Eid holidays

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi responded to 167 road traffic accidents across the district during the three days of Eid, according to spokesperson of Rescue 1122.

A total of 189 people were affected in these accidents. Rescue teams provided timely emergency assistance to all victims, maintaining the department’s average response time throughout the holiday period.

The accidents resulted in three fatalities, while 84 people sustained serious injuries and 102 suffered minor injuries. Most of those involved were car and motorcycle riders. Among the victims were 157 men and 32 women.

Rescue 1122 noted that over speeding, reckless driving, tyre bursts, and other factors as the prime causes of the accidents.

The majority of victims were between 11 and 40 years of age.

Rescue 1122 emphasized its continued efforts to reduce road traffic accidents and urged motorists to strictly follow traffic laws to improve road safety.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi reported 46 fire incidents across the district during the Eid holidays. Emergency response teams reached all affected locations promptly and carried out firefighting operations.

No injuries were reported in any of the fire incidents. Rescue firefighters successfully contained the fires through professional emergency response efforts.

The reported causes of the fires included short circuits, human negligence, and other factors. Additionally, Rescue 1122 responded to 10 forest fire incidents during the same period.
