Riphah Int'l University wins HEC NRPU Research Project award

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Riphah Institute of Media Sciences has achieved another milestone as its Head of Department, Dr. Muhammad Riaz, has been awarded the prestigious Higher education Commission (HEC) National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) Project under Call 2025-26.

According to Riphah Institute of Media Sciences officials, the awarded research project titled “Designing a Foundational Immersive Media Literacy Framework for Pakistani Youth: A Proactive Approach to Mitigating Risks in AR, VR, and the Metaverse” aims to develop a comprehensive framework to equip Pakistani youth with the skills and awareness required to navigate emerging immersive technologies responsibly, said a press release.

The project focuses on addressing potential risks associated with Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and the Metaverse while promoting safe and informed digital engagement among young users.

Officials termed the achievement a reflection of Riphah International University’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and impactful research in the fields of media studies and emerging technologies.
