RPO reviews Muharram security arrangements in DI Khan

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Range chaired a high-level meeting at Police Lines on Friday to review security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, assess potential threats and finalize contingency measures for dealing with emergencies.

The meeting was attended by the District Police Officer (DPO), senior officials of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Elite Force, Special Branch, Rapid Response Force (RRF), Quick Response Force (QRF), Bomb Disposal Squad and Traffic Police.

A comprehensive contingency plan for Muharram was reviewed, with all security agencies directed to remain on high alert. The meeting emphasized foolproof security for mourning processions and gatherings, strict checking of suspicious persons and objects, surveillance of sensitive locations, social media monitoring and an effective response mechanism to counter any security threat.

The participants also stressed close coordination among police, CTD, Special Branch, Rescue 1122 and the Health Department to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram.

Later, the RPO inaugurated the newly renovated police mess at Police Lines and visited the Muharram Police Command and Control Centre, where he was briefed on CCTV monitoring, surveillance arrangements and emergency response strategies. He directed officials to ensure continuous monitoring and prompt response throughout Muharram to maintain peace and security across the region.
