The lower court on Wednesday heard the recovery case of Mudassar, husband of a domestic worker who was earlier acquitted in a Rs2.5 billion theft case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) The lower court on Wednesday heard the recovery case of Mudassar, husband of a domestic worker who was earlier acquitted in a Rs2.5 billion theft case.

The suspect was produced before the court after a petition was filed in the High Court regarding his custody.

Judicial Magistrate Rizwanuddin conducted the hearing on the police request for physical remand.

According to the case record, the suspect was arrested after three years.

Defense counsel Habib Hanzala told the court that Mudassar was taken into custody on March 29 and was kept by police without being presented before a court.

The lawyer further stated that the suspect was not named in the case and no statement had been recorded against him.

The lawyer added that the police produced Mudassar only after a petition for unlawful detention was filed in the High Court by his wife.

The police requested a seven-day physical remand to question the suspect. However, the court granted only one day of remand, stating that the suspect was not directly nominated in the case and a short remand was sufficient to ensure a fair trial.

Mudassar’s wife, Rukhsana Bibi, had already been acquitted in the same case. She had also filed the petition in the High Court regarding her husband’s alleged abduction. The case is registered at Lohi Bher Police Station.
