Rs 250 mln safety wall project under review after rain damage; ICT admin rejects Rs 2.8 bln claim

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The Islamabad district administration has rejected reports claiming that a rain-affected safety wall on Prince Road in Phulgran was part of a Rs2.8 billion project, stating that the total cost of the wall was Rs 250 million.

Officials have suspended a site engineer, announced action against the contractor, and ordered the reconstruction of the wall at the contractor’s expense.

The Islamabad district administration has issued a clarification regarding reports about a safety wall on Prince Road in Phulgran that was affected during recent rainfall.

According to the administration, claims that the project was worth Rs 2.8 billion are incorrect. Officials stated that the total cost of the safety wall project was Rs 250 million.

Following an initial assessment, the administration identified concerns regarding construction quality. As a result, the site engineer responsible for the project was suspended with immediate effect.

Officials also announced that the contractor responsible for the construction would be blacklisted. Further action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the inquiry and relevant rules.

The district administration said that the remaining portion of the safety wall was also being demolished as a precautionary measure. Authorities explained that this step was being taken to ensure public safety and to allow a complete review of the structure.

According to officials, the entire wall will be rebuilt from the ground up, and all reconstruction costs will be borne by the contractor. The administration stated that no additional financial burden will be placed on the public treasury for the rebuilding process.

The district administration said it remains committed to ensuring accountability and maintaining construction standards in public projects.
