Rs 25000 fine imposed on shopkeepers for overpricing, other violations

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) Assistant Commissioner of Tehsil Prova Muhammad Adil Khan has visited the main Prova Bazaar and inspected various shops to ensure provision of edible commodities at officially prescribed rates.

During the visit, the administration reviewed the availability of official price lists, cleanliness conditions, and overall public convenience in the market.

According to the administration, the inspection was conducted following a public complaint received by the DC Office Control Room.

The complaint stated that some shopkeepers had extended their goods onto the road, narrowing the passage in the market and causing difficulties for pedestrians.

On this occasion, the Assistant Commissioner strictly directed the concerned shopkeepers to immediately remove their goods from the road and clear the pathway, warning that strict legal action would be taken in case of non-compliance.

During the inspection, several violations were observed, including overpricing, failure to prominently display the official price list, the presence of expired items in bakeries, and unsatisfactory cleanliness arrangements.

He took action on the spot and imposed fines on the violators.

According to the administration, fines amounting to Rs 10,000 were imposed for overpricing, Rs 6,000 for not displaying the official price list, Rs 5,000 for keeping expired items in bakeries, and Rs 4,000 for poor cleanliness conditions.

In total, fines amounting to Rs 25,000 were collected.

Assistant Commissioner Prova Muhammad Adil Khan directed shopkeepers to prominently display the official price list, refrain from selling expired items, and ensure that food items are sold according to the government-notified prices to provide relief to citizens.
