MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) In a major development, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) uncovered an alleged embezzlement of government wheat and gunny bags worth over Rs240 million in Muzaffargarh and registered cases against five officials of the food Department.

According to ACE sources, preliminary investigations conducted jointly with the Food Department revealed that around 1,500 metric tons of government wheat had gone missing from three official warehouses located in Muzaffargarh, Khangarh and Shah Jamal.

Officials stated that the alleged misappropriation took place during 2023–2024 and involved both wheat stock and gunny bags (bardana) stored at government facilities.

Following the initial findings, three separate cases were registered against five Food Department officials, including Assistant Food Controller Ali Shaheen and Food Grain Inspectors Mazhar Sajjad, Mushtaq Ahmed, Muhammad Azam and Muhammad Zia.

The cases were lodged on the complaint of the District Food Controller, while a comprehensive investigation was underway. Authorities had intensified efforts to arrest the accused; however, no arrests had been made so far.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability and vowed strict action against those found involved in corruption.
