HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) The Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Hyderabad has claimed that they have recovered Rs 1.255 million charged in excess fares from the people returning to their homes to celebrate Eidul Fitr by the transporters.
The Secretary Saleem Memon informed here on Saturday that a team of the RTA Hyderabad checked hundreds of vehicles transporting people from different destinations in the country through Hyderabad.
He claimed that they also imposed a total of Rs 1.
15 million in fines on the transporters for charging excess fares.
Memon said the Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who is also the province's Senior and Information Minister, had strictly directed the transport officials to ensure a crackdown against the transporters looting passengers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Eid.
The Secretary warned the transporters to desist from robbing the passengers if they did not want to face penalties.
