LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) After having a meeting with Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Faheemur Rehman Saigol, regarding the issues faced by industrialists in the Saggian Industrial Area, Provincial Secretary for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, has taken important decisions by ordering the suspension of enforcement actions by Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) for two weeks.
A committee has also been constituted to find a permanent solution to the matter, the chamber's spokesman told media here Monday.
Under the directions and efforts of LCCI President, continuous engagement with government authorities was underway to safeguard the interests of industrialists in Saggian and adjoining industrial areas. Consequently, LCCI Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh and former president Muhammad Ali Mian met Provincial Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal and presented the concerns of industrialists in detail.
LCCI President Faheemur Rehman Saigol has been providing overall leadership on the issue and will also lead upcoming negotiations with the government.
During the meeting, the Provincial Secretary was briefed on the negative impact of RUDA’s notices, raids, and factory sealing operations in the Saggian Industrial Area on industrial activity, investment, and employment. Taking immediate notice of the situation, he directed RUDA to halt raids and factory sealing operations for a period of two weeks.
The Provincial Secretary also constituted a committee to comprehensively review the imposition of conversion fees, legal authority, and fee structures.
The committee will be headed by LCCI President Faheemur Rehman Saigol and will include Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh, former President Muhammad Ali Mian, and representatives of relevant government departments. The committee will examine industrialists’ concerns and formulate practical recommendations.
On the occasion, members of the LCCI Executive Committee, including Umar Sarfaraz, Shaban Akhtar, representatives of Saggian Industrial Area Malik Muhammad Ameen, Hafiz Tanveer Ahmad, Shafeeq-uz-Zaman, and Muhammad Kamran were also present.
LCCI delegation appreciated the timely decisions taken by Provincial Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, stating that the government’s positive progress is an important step toward restoring industrialists’ confidence. They expressed hope that the newly formed committee would propose a balanced solution through comprehensive consultation, ensuring uninterrupted industrial operations.
They further stated that Saggian Industrial Area is an important industrial hub of Lahore, where more than 1,400 factories are operating and approximately 150,000 people are employed. Therefore, it is essential to take industrialists into confidence during policymaking.
LCCI President Faheemur Rehman Saigol and former president Mian Anjum Nisar welcomed the Provincial Secretary’s decision to suspend RUDA’s actions and establish a committee, expressing hope that ongoing negotiations between the government and industrialists under the leadership of the LCCI President would soon yield positive results and help stabilize the industrial environment.
