Officials say committee will examine testimonies of moon sighting received from across Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 19th, 2026) The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to hold its meeting on Thursday (today) in Islamabad to sight the Shawwal moon and determine the date of Eid al-Fitr in Pakistan.
Officials said the committee will examine testimonies of moon sighting received from across the country before making a final announcement regarding the visibility of the Shawwal crescent.
The outcome of the meeting will decide whether Eidul Fitr will be observed the following day or after completion of the fasting month of Ramazan.
Meanwhile, the Shawwal moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia, where Eidul Fitr is likely to be celebrated on Friday.
However, Afghanistan has already announced Eidul Fitr today, reflecting differing moon sighting outcomes across the region.
