Ambassador Albert P. Khorev says Moscow is willing to sell oil to Pakistan and that the country could benefit from the prevailing global situation

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 17th, 2026) Russia is ready to provide discounted oil to Pakistan if Islamabad makes a formal request, Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference, the envoy stated that Moscow is willing to sell oil to Pakistan and that the country could benefit from the prevailing global situation. He noted that, so far, Pakistan has not approached Russia for oil imports.

Khorev described the energy sector as a key area of cooperation between the two countries, adding that bilateral ties could be further strengthened through collaboration in this domain.

Commenting on regional tensions, he said Russia has long-standing military and technical cooperation with Iran.

However, he refrained from detailed remarks on the evolving middle East situation, calling it complex and uncertain.

The ambassador also condemned a reported attack on a girls’ school in Iran that allegedly killed 170 children, terming it unacceptable. He urged all parties to exercise restraint and resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

He further criticised the use of force against Iran, saying it has escalated the crisis and contributed to instability in the region.
