RWMC completes special cleanliness operation for Ashura processions

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has successfully completed a special cleanliness operation along the routes of the central Ashura procession and at various religious gathering sites across the city to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for mourners.

Acting on the directives of RWMC Chief Executive Officer Rana Sajid Safdar, the company carried out a comprehensive zero-waste operation and washing campaign on procession routes, around imambargahs, majalis venues and adjoining areas.

Special sanitation measures were also undertaken at cemeteries ahead of Youm-e-Ashura.

RWMC teams removed waste, overgrown weeds and debris from graveyards to facilitate citizens visiting the graves of their loved ones for prayers and remembrance.

Reviewing the sanitation arrangements, CEO Rana Sajid Safdar said that providing the best possible cleanliness services to mourners and residents during Muharram remains the organization's top priority.

He appreciated the dedication, commitment and professionalism displayed by RWMC field teams during the operation.

Senior Manager Operations Dr. Hamid Iqbal, District Manager Aamir Younis Naik, Manager Operations City Syed Hassan Sardar and Deputy Manager Operations Gul Baz Satti supervised sanitation activities in different areas and ensured that procession routes, imambargahs, religious gathering sites and cemeteries remained clean throughout the operation.

RWMC's special control rooms also remained fully operational, continuously monitoring cleanliness activities, ensuring prompt resolution of complaints and maintaining coordination with field teams. Control rooms established at Liaquat Bagh and Safe City Rawalpindi monitored the city's sanitation situation round the clock.

Rana Sajid Safdar reiterated that RWMC would continue to provide high-quality sanitation services with the same

commitment and dedication, contributing to a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Rawalpindi.
