RWMC conducts grand cleanliness operation across Rawalpindi on Easter

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) Under the “Suthra Punjab Program” of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) carried out a comprehensive cleanliness operation across all 22 tehsils of Rawalpindi Division on the occasion of Easter.

The drive focused on churches, Christian neighborhoods, graveyard, and recreational sites, where special arrangements were made to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for the Christian community. RWMC workers performed washing, manual sweeping, waste collection, and other steps to maintain a “zero waste” condition. Lime was also sprinkled on streets and roads as part of sanitation measures.

Despite the public holiday on Easter Sunday, routine cleanliness operations continued uninterrupted. Following religious gatherings, RWMC teams conducted a grand clean-up operation to restore all sites, including churches and surrounding areas, back to zero waste.

Special cleanliness measures were also implemented during Good Friday and Palm Sunday, with sanitation staff remaining active in the field to facilitate smooth conduct of religious activities.

CEO RWMC, Rana Sajid Safdar, stated that providing a clean environment to citizens remains the top priority in line with the Chief Minister’s vision. He added that extraordinary efforts were made to ensure that the Christian community could observe their religious rituals in a pleasant and safe atmosphere.

He further said that RWMC teams worked diligently across all tehsils and will continue to provide high-quality sanitation services in the future.

Representatives of the Christian community appreciated the efforts of RWMC workers and stating that the excellent cleanliness arrangements created a welcoming environment, allowing religious events to be held smoothly.

They also commended the announcement of the Chief Minister to provide advance salaries to Christian sanitation workers on Easter, terming it a positive step to acknowledge and encourage their services.
