RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company has finalised a comprehensive cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Azha, deploying more than 6,340 sanitary workers and 1,066 vehicles across the district to ensure uninterrupted waste collection and disposal services.
Chief Executive Officer of RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar told APP that leave of all staff had been cancelled for the duration of the Eid operation.
He said the sanitation campaign would be carried out in 164 union councils across seven tehsils of Rawalpindi district, including Rawal Town, Pothohar Town, Saddar, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan.
The operation will cover 729,577 houses, 1,556 Mosques, 98 Eidgahs and 560 graveyards.
RWMC has established 33 transfer stations and four dumping sites for the timely disposal of sacrificial waste, while 7,991 containers and drums will also be utilised during the campaign.
The CEO said 11 large trenches were being excavated at dumping sites to ensure the safe disposal of waste. To maintain hygiene standards, the company would use 145,000 kilograms of lime, 2,302 litres of phenyl and 981 litres of rose water during the operation.
Special sanitation teams had also been constituted for five cattle markets across the district, where 55 workers and 11 vehicles had been deployed. In addition, 167 workers supported by 54 vehicles will carry out cleaning operations at 38 collective slaughtering sites.
A total of 144 vehicles will remain engaged in waste transfer activities at the 33 transfer stations established at key locations, including Chakla Bridge, Pirwadhai Mor, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Sixth Road, Shamsabad, Jalebi Chowk, Waris Khan, Committee Chowk, Morgah Road, Liaquat Bagh, Chakri Interchange, Chak Beli Khan and Sagri.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Rana Sajid Safdar said the RWMC helpline 1139 would remain operational round the clock for the prompt resolution of public complaints. Citizens may also register complaints through telephone numbers 051-9291108, 0316-4801718 and 0316-4801719.
He said complaint resolution time had been fixed between 30 minutes and two hours. For this purpose, 14 staff members in two shifts and 20 personnel at five control rooms would remain on duty round the clock.
The cleanliness operation would also be monitored by Clean Punjab, CMS, PMDU, SMU and the Special Branch, he added.
As part of the public awareness campaign, RWMC will distribute 376,700 waste bags among residents and conduct awareness drives through 1,300 steamers, 1,900 banners, 46 hoardings, 61,000 brochures, 6,250 posters and 997 vehicle banners.
The CEO said seven model camps, 86 union council camps, five cattle market camps and 33 waste collection point camps would remain operational, while awareness campaigns would continue in neighbourhoods, markets, mosques and cattle markets, alongside outreach through social, print and electronic media.
Special cleaning and washing of Mosques, Eidgahs and graveyards will be completed before Eid prayers, while a “zero waste” operation will be conducted on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
Safdar said the removal and disposal of waste would continue uninterrupted throughout the three days of Eid-ul-Azha.
