RWMC launches Eid cleanliness drive across Rawalpindi Division

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has launched a comprehensive cleanliness drive across all tehsils of Rawalpindi Division to ensure a clean environment for citizens during Eid-ul-Fitr days.

Sanitation teams have been deployed round the clock with a target to maintain “zero waste” conditions at mosques, Eidgahs, parks, recreational spots, markets and graveyards, an RWMC spokesman said on Wednesday.

Despite rain, the spokesman, the RWMC workers continued special cleaning and washing of masajids and Eidgahs to facilitate worshippers in offering Eid prayers in a clean and hygienic environment.

“Cleaning of graveyards is also being expedited to ensure visitors face no inconvenience while paying respects to their loved ones,” he added.

The spokesman said special teams were assigned to clean markets, bazaars, parks and recreational areas, while bus stands were also being washed and cleared to provide a pleasant environment for travellers heading home for Eid.

To tackle rain-related challenges, he said, the Company deployed additional staff in low-lying areas.

Workers were actively clearing drains and nullahs to ensure smooth drainage and prevent inconvenience to residents.

RWMC Chief Executive Officer Rana Sajid Safdar said providing the best sanitation facilities during Eid-ul-Fitr was the Company’s top priority. He said teams remained in the field in all weather conditions and were committed to making Rawalpindi Division a “zero waste” region so that citizens could celebrate Eid in a clean and healthy environment.

He said an anti-littering awareness campaign was also underway, including announcements in masjids, messages through megaphones and vehicles, establishment of information desks, awareness announcements at bus stands and distribution of brochures to highlight the importance of cleanliness.

The CEO urged citizens to cooperate by disposing of waste at designated places and playing their part in keeping the city clean.

The RWMC said the initiative reflected its commitment to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for citizens during the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
