Sadia Taimoor distributes cheques for establishment of daycare centres in public institutions

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) Parliamentary Secretary for Women Development Punjab Sadia Taimoor on Wednesday distributed cheques to seven public-sector institutions for the establishment of daycare centres, terming the initiative a significant step towards creating a more supportive environment for working women and female students.

The cheque distribution ceremony was held at her office in Lahore, where representatives of the selected institutions received financial assistance for setting up childcare facilities on their premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Sadia Taimoor said access to quality childcare was essential for increasing women’s participation in education and the workforce. She said the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was committed to removing barriers that hinder women’s professional and academic growth.

She said daycare centres provide working mothers with peace of mind and enable them to continue their careers and education without compromising the wellbeing of their children. The initiative, she added, reflected the government’s commitment to developing women-friendly institutions across the province.

The beneficiary institutions include Allama Iqbal Medical College, Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, school of Investigative Services Chung, Government Graduate College Marghzar Colony, Government Technical Training Institute for Women Kamal Ganj and Government Girls High School Mandi Faizabad.

Secretary Women Development Department Punjab Saman Rai said the establishment of daycare centres formed part of the department’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional support for women and promote gender-responsive workplaces. She said such facilities would help women balance professional and family responsibilities while contributing to improved workplace productivity and inclusion.

She added that the initiative was part of the Punjab government’s wider women empowerment agenda aimed at enhancing women’s economic participation and ensuring that public institutions provide safe, accessible and supportive environments for women across the province.
