PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan on Tuesday visited the Command and Control Center of the Safe City Project at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
Secretary Information Matiullah Khan accompanied him, while senior police officials briefed the delegation on various components of the project.
During the visit, the Special Assistant was given a detailed tour of the Wireless Control System, Crisis Management System and other operational sections of the facility.
The officials informed that the Peshawar Safe City Project had been completed at an estimated cost of around Rs 2 billion. Under the project, as many as 711 modern surveillance cameras have been installed at 133 key and sensitive locations across the city. The Command and Control Center integrates surveillance and emergency response mechanisms on a unified platform, enabling real-time monitoring and improved coordination, they added.
It was further informed that work was in progress to introduce an e-challan system for effective traffic management under the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafi Jan said that the Safe City Project was a comprehensive security system equipped with modern technology and would play a key role in maintaining law and order in Peshawar. He added that similar Safe City projects in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Lakki Marwat were near completion.
The Special Assistant said that the initiative would enhance police capacity and help reduce crime, reaffirming that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government remained committed to ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for the public.
