SAI chief welcomes Hormuz reopening, credits PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) President of the SITE Association of Industry, Abdul Rehman Fudda, welcomed Iran’s decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, terming it a highly positive development for the global economy.

In a statement on Saturday, the SAI president said Pakistan’s top leadership played a commendable role in achieving this breakthrough through timely and effective diplomacy. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for demonstrating foresight and statesmanship.

Fudda said that Pakistan’s leadership not only contributed to easing tensions between the United States and Iran but also played a key role in facilitating a ceasefire, thereby helping save precious human lives.

He added that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has helped avert a looming global energy crisis, ensuring the continued flow of petroleum supplies and stabilising international markets.

He further said that the diplomatic success would strengthen Pakistan’s positive image in the international community and serve as a significant milestone for promoting peace and stability in the region.
