ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jun, 2026) Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, met with ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo on the sidelines of 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva .
The minister was accompanied by the representatives of Pakistani employers and workers.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in promoting decent work, social justice, skills development, and social protection.
The Minister highlighted Pakistan’s continued commitment to advancing labour rights and informed the Director-General of recent progress on the implementation of the recent ratifications of the Protocol of 2014 to the Forced Labour Convention, the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, and the Labour Statistics Convention,1985.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The minister also underscored Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance employment opportunities and improve protections for workers.
The two sides exchanged views on key labour and employment challenges and discussed avenues for expanding cooperation in workforce development, social protection, occupational safety and health, and labour market governance.
Houngbo appreciated Pakistan’s constructive engagement with the ILO and welcomed the country’s continued commitment to promoting decent work and advancing social progress.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the ILO in support of inclusive growth, productive employment, and sustainable development.
