Sargodha accelerates wheat procurement drive

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry has directed the food department officials to

ensure the timely distribution of gunny bags (bardana) to farmers, with special priority given to

small growers during both distribution and wheat procurement processes.

Chairing a briefing session on the ongoing wheat procurement campaign here at his office

on Tuesday, the DC emphasized that all available bardana should be distributed on a priority basis

among small farmers to facilitate smooth procurement operations.

He also ordered strict monitoring to prevent the illegal transportation of wheat and instructed authorities to establish check posts at the city’s exit points.

Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry stressed that the wheat procurement process must be completed in a

transparent manner and that payments to farmers should be made promptly to avoid any inconvenience.

During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that the Food department had so far received 1,536 applications, out of which 1,063 have been verified by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA).

They further stated that 40,310 bags (100 kilograms each) of bardana had been distributed among farmers, while 25,285 bags (100 kilograms each) of wheat had already been procured.
