HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jul, 2026) Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam has initiated work on a five-year strategic plan aimed at addressing its financial and administrative challenges, improving academic quality and aligning degree programs with emerging market and industry needs.
To steer the initiative, the university has constituted the SAU Strategic Planning Committee. A consultative session and awareness workshop on the strategic plan and survey process was held at the university's Senate Hall with the participation of deans and heads of academic departments. The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal, while Quality Enhancement Cell Adviser Dr Saleem Maseeh Bhatti briefed participants on the objectives of the strategic planning exercise and the survey framework.
According to the SAU spokesperson Gul Sher Lochi, addressing the meeting, Prof Dr Altaf Siyal said the university was facing financial challenges and that all academic departments would need to contribute practical proposals for improving academic standards, making degree programs more responsive to the changing needs of the market and industry, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and identifying new avenues for revenue generation.
He said recommendations from industry would be given due consideration in the Boards of Studies while designing market-oriented curricula and greater emphasis would be placed on introducing modern academic programs that meet contemporary employment and development needs.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Former Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro and chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili said the university required institutional restructuring, capacity building of faculty and administrative staff and a comprehensive strategy for generating additional financial resources.
He urged faculty members to develop competitive research proposals and submit recommendations for the commercialization of departmental expertise, consultancy services and other technical services.
Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi said the Higher education Commission (HEC) was revising its quality assurance policies, under which deans and heads of academic departments would be entrusted with greater academic and administrative responsibilities, while the Quality Enhancement Cell would primarily serve as a coordinating body.
Among those who also spoke on the occasion were Dr Inayatullah Rajpar, Dr Abdul Mubeen Lodhi, Dr Munir Ahmed Mangrio, Syed Ghiasuddin Shah, Shamsuddin Bughio, Dr Mir Sajjad Talpur, Dr Saima, Dr Ahmed Nawaz Tunio and Nusrat Hussain Chandio. The participants shared recommendations for strengthening the university's academic, administrative and financial performance under the proposed strategic plan.
