MAKKAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) The Saudi Public Prosecution has introduced a major amendment to the executive regulations of its anti-money laundering system to enhance its effectiveness, lowering the declaration threshold for cash and valuables carried by travelers to 40,000 Saudi Riyals.
According to a social media post on X by the Emirate of Makkah Region detailing the anti-money laundering amendments, the legal threshold for passengers declaring cash and valuables when entering or leaving the Kingdom has been modified. Under the previous regulation, it was mandatory for travelers arriving in or departing from Saudi Arabia to fill out a declaration form for amounts and items valued at 60,000 Saudi Riyals or its equivalent. Following the new amendment, this limit has been reduced to 40,000 Saudi Riyals.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>In accordance with this amendment, enacted under Paragraph (1) of Article 23 of the Executive Regulation of the Anti-Money Laundering Law, it is now legally required for passengers at all land, sea, and air borders to submit a prior declaration if the value of their belongings reaches or exceeds 40,000 Saudi Riyals.
These items include all types of local and foreign currencies, negotiable monetary instruments such as bonds and checks, gold bullion or gold, as well as precious metals and precious stones or jewelry made from them. Consequently, authorities have strictly urged travelers to fully comply with this new regulation during their journey to avoid any legal complications or confiscation procedures.
