Saudi Arabia to host global energy regulators moot in 2027, showcasing reform vision

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Saudi Arabia has secured the hosting rights for the 24th Annual Conference of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA), scheduled to be held in Riyadh from February 1 to 3, 2027, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s growing role in global energy governance.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the announcement was made during the 23rd ERRA Conference currently underway in Slovakia, where the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority (SERA) is participating as an active member of the association.

The upcoming conference will be held under the theme “From Oversight to Foresight: The Proactive Regulator in the Electricity Transformation,” reflecting a forward-looking approach to regulatory practices in the evolving global energy landscape.

The hosting of the event underscores SERA’s pioneering role in developing innovative and proactive regulatory models for the electricity sector, aligned with the broader goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to position the Kingdom as a leading hub for international conferences and strategic dialogue.

The Kingdom’s delegation at the ongoing conference is being led by Vice Governor for Economic Affairs and Licensing at SERA, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Saad Al-Mozan.

During the event, SERA also shared its expertise in strengthening regulatory frameworks and enhancing consumer protection. Vice Governor for Consumer Affairs Eng. Abdulilah bin Rawdan Al-Shaiee presented a working paper during a panel session titled “Transforming Retail Supply and Customer Engagement,” highlighting Saudi Arabia’s progress in modernizing its electricity sector.
