SBA Commissioner imposes ban on bathing, swimming in canals

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) Commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad Division has imposed a 90-day ban on bathing, swimming and recreational activities in canals, branches and waterways within Sanghar district. The notification was issued on Monday following a request from Deputy Commissioner of Sanghar.

According to details, Commissioner Shahmeer Khan Bhutto approved the restriction in view of rising incidents of drowning and loss of human lives during the summer season, when people frequently enter canals to cool off.

The measure aims to ensure the safety and protection of citizens. Under the issued orders, a complete ban has been enforced on bathing and swimming in all major canals, distributaries and waterways across Sanghar district.

Police authorities have been directed to take legal action under Section 144 against anyone found violating the ban. Commissioner has also appealed general public to cooperate with the administration and avoid entering canals, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding their own lives and those of their children.
