ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear the defamation case filed against the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday, March 31.
The case, instituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, involves a review petition filed by the PTI founder concerning his right of defense. For this purpose, the apex court has constituted a three-member bench headed by Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, with Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim as members.
Earlier, a three-member bench led by Justice Ayesha Malik had been hearing the case. It is pertinent to mention that the PTI founder had approached the Supreme Court after a trial court struck off his right of defense in the defamation proceedings.
However, a separate three-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had dismissed his petition.
Subsequently, the PTI founder filed a review petition against that decision, which is now scheduled for hearing on March 31.
