PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jun, 2026) Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) declared the Federal budget as balanced, business-friendly and hoped that the effective implementation of budget proposals will lead the country’s sustainable economic prosperity, stability, business and investment growth.
President SCCI, Junaid Altaf, expressed his remarks on the Federal Budget FY 2026-27 during a traders meeting belonging to the bazars of the city here on Wednesday.
He stated that positive proposals, especially abolishment of super tax on export sector, a 50 percent cut in various taxes from real estate sector, relief for salaried class, and incentives for various other sectors, presented through the next budget, which is highly encouraging and laudable.
Such initiatives will foster economic activities and assist in achieving the set growth targets for the next fiscal year, he added.
SCCI chief emphasized simplifying the taxation system, abolishment of additional taxes and ratios, decreasing cost of doing business, avoiding overburdening existing taxpayers and enforcement of business-friendly policies, which are the long-standing demands of the business community.
He stated the budget proposals reflect a positive trajectory and will assist in pushing the country’s economy into the stabilization phase.
President Junaid Altaf hailed the incentives announced in the budget for the uplift of the real estate sector, which has been attached with dozens of allied and supportive industries and it is expected that the revival of this sector will boost investment and economic activities, generate new employment avenues and positive growth in overall GDP.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The SCCI chief viewed that the increase in defence expenditures is crucial in the prevailing national security requirements and stressed the need for a strong and peaceful atmosphere for sustainable economic and investment growth and boosting the investors' trust.
The SCCI chief emphasized that the objectives of the budget can only be achieved by ensuring enforcement of effective policies, regulatory stabilization, efforts for altering the undocumented economy into documented tax reforms and frequent consultation with the private sector.
President Junaid Altaf congratulated the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the government’s economic team for presenting such a budget that will assist in bringing GDP growth, generating employment and investment opportunities, boosting exports, and achieving the economic stabilization and growth targets.
He reaffirmed SCCI commitment to continue support to government and stakeholders in such policies that would promote the sustainable growth in trade, export, investment and national economy.
Besides all of that, President Junaid Altaf presented some proposals, including review on FBR initiative, tax laws and making them business-friendly, especially business community reservations on digital enforcement and unlimited authorities of FBR.
Regarding the fixed tax regime, SCCI chief stated that 1 percent turnover tax under the scheme is very high, so it must be reviewed and make the scheme simple to pay small traders tax easily and play their role in widening the tax-base.
