LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) The school education Department has issued fresh instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to make the annual examination system more transparent and effective across Punjab.

According to the department, the marking process of examination papers will be conducted under strict supervision to ensure accuracy and transparency in results.

Under the new instructions, 25 per cent of examination papers from schools across the province will be selected for validation through a separate system under School-Based Assessment. The process aims to verify the accuracy of examination results.

School heads have been directed to maintain complete records related to assessments. Authorities warned that if any complaint regarding incorrect marking or exaggeration of results is received, strict action will be taken against the concerned heads.

The department further stated that strict action would be taken against schools found preparing fake or fabricated results, while those ensuring accurate and genuine results would be encouraged.

The instructions also emphasized that the examination process in government as well as outsourced schools should remain confidential and transparent.

The Punjab Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) will independently review the quality of marking of eighth-grade examination papers.

According to the department, the performance of DPIs, directors, and CEOs will also be evaluated on the basis of assessment checking criteria.
