ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) Academic engagement between Pakistan and Russia is set to gain further momentum as the second Russian–Pakistani International Conference will be held in Kazan, Russian Federation, from May 12 to 17, 2026.

Titled “The Evolving Russia–Pakistan Relationship in a Changing Global Order,” the conference will take place within the broader framework of the Russia–Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2026, a globally recognised platform for international dialogue, said a press release on Monday.

The event is being jointly organised by Kazan Federal University and the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad, in collaboration with the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and the Consortium for Asia Pacific & Eurasian Studies (CAPES).

The conference is being held under the patronage of Prof Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari, Vice Chancellor of FUUAST, and Prof Dr Lenar Rinatovich Safin, Rector of Kazan Federal University. It also enjoys the patronage of the ambassadors of Russia to Pakistan HE Mr Albert Khorev and Pakistan Ambassador to Russian HE Mr Faisal Niaz Termazi reflecting growing diplomatic and academic cooperation between the two countries.

The upcoming conference builds on the success of its first conference held in Karachi in February 2025, which marked an important milestone in strengthening bilateral academic linkages.

A high-level Pakistani delegation is expected to attend, including Prof Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari(VC, FUUAST), Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood Iraqi (VC, University of Karachi), Prof Dr Ghazala Yasmeen (VC, Women University Swabi), and Prof Dr Sajid Mehmood Shehzad (VC, Minhaj University), along with senior academics, researchers across the country and representative of business community will be part of this.

Participants will deliberate on a range of key issues, including geopolitics, regional connectivity, economic cooperation, security, and cultural exchange.

As part of the Kazan Forum, which brings together global stakeholders from diverse sectors, the conference is expected to provide a significant platform for strengthening academic diplomacy, promoting collaborative research, and enhancing people-to-people contacts.

The initiative underscores a shared commitment by Pakistan and Russia to expand cooperation beyond traditional domains and to foster a more inclusive, knowledge-driven partnership in an evolving global order.
