ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has announced that Pakistan’s second nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2026 will be conducted from April 13 to 19, to protect millions of children from the crippling disease.
During the campaign, more than 45 million children under the age of five will be administered polio drops across the country.
In addition, children will also receive Vitamin A supplements to boost their immunity.
Over 400,000 trained polio workers will go door-to-door to ensure maximum coverage and reach every eligible child.
According to NEOC, the campaign targets include over 23 million children in Punjab, 10.
6 million in Sindh, 7.2 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2.6 million in Balochistan.
In Islamabad, more than 460,000 children will be vaccinated, while 228,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan and over 760,000 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir will also receive polio drops.
Health authorities have emphasized that polio remains an incurable disease that can cause lifelong paralysis.
Parents and caregivers have been asked to cooperate with polio teams and ensure their children receive the vaccine.
Officials reiterated that community support is critical to achieving a polio-free Pakistan and called on citizens to open their doors to frontline workers during the campaign.
