QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) Secretary Communications and Works Balochistan, Babar Khan, chaired an important meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects aimed at improving facilities in fruit and vegetable markets, grain markets, bus terminals, and livestock markets across the province.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers from all six zones, consultants, and other relevant officials.

Participants were given detailed briefings on the current status of various projects, challenges being faced, and future plans.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary Babar Khan emphasized that agriculture and livestock are vital sectors of Balochistan’s economy, and modernizing market infrastructure is essential to align these sectors with contemporary needs. He stated that the government’s objective is to provide farmers, traders, and the business community with modern facilities to further boost agricultural production and livestock trade.

He highlighted that under the ongoing projects, fruit and vegetable markets are being equipped with sanitation systems, effective drainage, cold storage facilities, parking areas, and modern transport services.

These measures will help maintain the quality of agricultural produce while providing farmers and traders with a better business environment.

The Secretary directed officials to accelerate work to ensure timely completion of all projects, stressing that any technical or administrative issues must be resolved immediately to avoid delays. He also instructed the formation of a special technical team to monitor progress and quality standards. This team will inspect projects across the province and prepare a comprehensive report on their current status, quality, and progress, which will be submitted to the Secretary’s office.

Babar Khan reiterated that, in line with the directives of the Government of Balochistan, every possible step will be taken to complete development projects within the stipulated timeframe and to provide improved facilities to the public.
