TALAGANG, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) The district administration has imposed Section 144 across Chakwal and Talagang, banning swimming, bathing, diving and boating in dams, streams, lakes, ponds and other natural water bodies for 30 days as authorities seek to prevent drowning incidents during the ongoing monsoon season.
The order, issued on Friday by Deputy Commissioner Sarah Hayat, comes amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and the heightened risk of flash floods. According to an official notification, the restrictions have been introduced as a precautionary measure after recurring monsoon-related drowning incidents in previous years, with officials noting that people often ignore safety warnings and enter hazardous water bodies.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The ban will remain in force from **July 3 to August 1, 2026**, covering all dams, nullahs, lakes, ponds and other natural water bodies within the revenue limits of Chakwal and Talagang districts. However, water bodies operated by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) have been exempted from the restrictions.
The Deputy Commissioner has directed the police and district administration to strictly enforce the order, warning that legal action will be taken against violators under the relevant laws. Residents have been urged to cooperate with the authorities, avoid entering water bodies during the monsoon season, and follow official safety advisories to help prevent avoidable loss of life.
