ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday issued a short written verdict in the murder case of Senate employee Hamza Khan, awarding the death sentence to former Islamabad police SP Arif Hussain Shah and handing life imprisonment and other jail terms to two co-convicts. The court also imposed fines of up to Rs10 lakh on the accused in different charges linked to the case.

According to the written order, former SP Arif Hussain Shah was sentenced to death under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code in the murder case of Hamza Khan. The court also imposed a fine of Rs1 million on the convict.

The court sentenced co-convicts Sabir Shah and Saqlain Shah to life imprisonment under Section 302.

Both convicts were also fined Rs1 million each.

In addition, the court awarded 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs1 million each to Arif Hussain Shah, Sabir Shah and Saqlain Shah under kidnapping charges.

The written verdict further stated that all three convicts were also sentenced to seven years imprisonment under charges related to destroying evidence. The court imposed an additional fine of Rs100,000 each under the same offence.

According to the order, all sentences awarded to the convicts will run concurrently.

The murder case of Senate employee Hamza Khan was registered at Aabpara Police Station, where the investigation into the case was conducted before the trial proceedings in court.
