Senate unanimously adopts resolution paying tribute to Aga Khan family’s humanitarian services

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The Senate on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution paying tribute to the humanitarian, educational and development services of the Aga Khan (AK) family and warmly welcoming the visit of Prince Rahim Aga Khan to Pakistan.

Moving the resolution in the House on behalf of all political parties, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said the Aga Khan family had shared a historic spiritual, humanitarian and development relationship with Pakistan for decades.

He said their contributions to education, healthcare, rural development, culture, peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony had earned deep respect and appreciation from the people of Pakistan.

The House acknowledged the extraordinary humanitarian role played by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), noting that its hospitals, universities, schools, rural support programmes and welfare initiatives had transformed millions of lives by providing hope, dignity and opportunities without discrimination based on race, religion, nationality or social status, the resolution stated.

The resolution also recognised the Ismaili community in Pakistan and abroad as peaceful, law-abiding, hardworking and highly respected people who had continuously contributed to economic growth, education and humanitarian causes across the world.

The House expressed hope that the visit of Prince Rahim Aga Khan would further strengthen bonds of peace, unity, friendship and interfaith harmony among people and nations, while inspiring future generations towards compassion, tolerance and service to humanity.
